Charlie & Anthony
I took this portrait of my neighbors, Charlie and Anthony, in my living room.
Charlie was born about three weeks after I moved into my place. Not long after that, Anthony (who is a train conductor) was forced to work about seven hours from here. For several years, Anthony drove the seven hours back and forth in order to spend every free minute he had at home with Charlie and his wife, Amber. It reminded me of when I was a kid and my Dad had to take a job almost the exact same distance away, and for a long time he drove back and forth in order to provide for our family. I love this portrait, because if you look at Anthony and Charlie's hands, you'll see everything you need to know about how they feel about each other. Not pictured is Amber, who also balanced work with basically being a single mom for extended periods of time.
Shout out to every parent making a huge sacrifice for their kid.
